Caring for the Chakras
By Tasha Blackrose

A human being is composed of four bodies. They are the Physical, Etheric (or Astral), Mental, and Spiritual Bodies. Each one exists on the plane or dimension of the universe that bears the same name.

At this time we will take a look at the Etheric Body which exists on the etheric or astral plane. Generally the Etheric Body conforms to the shape and size of your physical body. It is also referred to as the etheric double. This is what is visible to those who see auras. The color of the etheric body depends on emotional changes and thought form patterns. There are also energy centers that connect the etheric body to the other bodies. These energy centers are known as chakras.

There are seven individual chakras. They can be thought of as cones with the open end in the front of your physical body and originating in the spine. Each chakra has a corresponding color of the rainbow.

The first chakra, is the root chakra. It is located at the base of the spine and at the front of the body near the sexual/genital area. The color associated with the root chakra is clear red. This chakra corresponds to basic survival skills on a physical level and the ability to adapt and make changes.
The second, or naval chakra, is located on the lower abdomen between the navel and root chakra. The color is clear orange. Although I have heard it radiates all of the colors of the life force (red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet) when active. It controls both sexual and creative energy. The basic attributes are feeling others (empathy), emotions and sexuality. Impressions and images of all kinds are stored here on subconscious levels.

The solar plexus chakra is the third chakra. It is clear yellow in color. It is located above the navel, at the bottom of the rib cage. Through this chakra our connection to the physical and astral worlds is felt; it is the center of power.

The fourth chakra, known as the heart chakra, is located on the breast bone above the heart. There are two colors generally related to this chakra. They are clear rose and clear green. Rose generally denotes love and compassion where as green is mainly for healing and sympathy. It's attributes are love and compassion and it is important in healing.

Next is the throat chakra, whose color is clear blue or silver-blue. The fifth chakra is located in the hollow at the base of the neck in the middle of the collarbone. It is important to keep this chakra balanced and clear because it is the center of communication, expression, and creativity. A soul's thoughts are expressed here.

The Third Eye or brow chakra is slightly above and between the eyes. It is not only related to the physical sight but to a spiritual, mystical sight as well. It is the place of higher sight on higher planes, clairvoyance, and intuition as well as other forms of paranormal knowledge. The color linked to this chakra is a clear indigo.

The seventh and last chakra is the crown. The color associated with it is a clear violet. There is no spinal connection for this chakra which is located at the top of the head slightly towards the rear. The crown chakra is the center of psychic ability. Its correspondence is to the highest spiritual aura level.

One way that I remember the colors associated with each chakra is the acronym ROY G BIV (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet). Beginning with the root chakra as red and continuing up and ending with the crown chakra as violet.
The complimentary colors are: root-green, belly-blue/indigo, solar plexus-violet, heart-red for green or pale green for pink, throat and brow-orange, crown-yellow. (see below)

Now that you know a little about each chakra I think we should discuss balancing and cleansing the chakra system. To both clean and balance a chakra one must first reach a meditative state. Relax, breath deeply, and let your mind wonder. Remain at this point for a few minutes; then focus your attention on the root chakra. Feel the chakra vibrate and note its position, color, rate of vibration, clarity, and the width of its opening. While focusing on the chakra make sure that it is clean. A clean chakra is one that has no holes or black spots when it is looked at. If you notice any holes or black spots remove them by either picking the black spots out or by adding the chakra's color to the open holes. Next, make sure that the chakra is balanced. Everyone has a different balance point for each chakra so use your intuition to see if the chakra is either opened too far or closed too far. To open a chakra send more of its color to it; to close it send the complimentary color. If the cone of the chakra is lopsided or tilted, straighten it. Make sure the color feels right to you. If the color is too dark or too light, add its color or its complimentary color as appropriate. Continue this procedure moving up to the crown chakra.

Prana, the vital force or absolute energy, is used to recharge each of the chakras as well as the person as a whole. To revitalize yourself, enter a meditative state, then feel the energy around you. Visualize the flow of energy or prana as a wave or beam entering the crown chakra and continuing throughout the chakra system, then energizing the whole body.

Energy, like light, has frequencies noticeable as colors. Prana can be visualized as white light (which contains all colors). Otherwise you could filter out all other colors (frequencies of energy) and use a specific color. Prana may be used to strengthen, open, or close a chakra. To do this direct prana at the specific chakra. At the same time you may choose to use only the chakra's frequency of prana

Keeping the chakras clean and balanced is very important in keeping your bodies functioning properly. A daily meditation as described above will help you attain this goal. By paying attention to your physical, mental, and emotional states as shown in you chakras you will most certainly prosper.
